1.      What are input devices?

Devices which are used to given input commands to computers are called Input devices.

 

 

 

2.      Write the use of the following devices:

a.      Webcam:  A webcam is used to capture real time videos and images in the computer that can be shared across the network with our friends and relatives.

b.      Microphone: A microphone is used to input voice, music or other sound into the computer.

c.       Digital camera: A digital camera is used to capture pictures. It stores the pictures in a memory chip.

d.      MICR: It is used to read characters that are printed on documents like cheques.

e.      Graphics Tablet: A graphics tablet (digitizer) enables a user to create drawing on the computer by hand.

 

3.      Write a short note on smart card reader.

Smart cards are basically of two types: memory cards and microprocessor cards. Memory cards have only a memory chip. They allow only some predefined operations on the card. However, the microprocessor card has memory chip as well as microprocessor components. You can add, delete and manipulate the data on the card.

 

4.      What is plotter?

·         A plotter is bigger than a printer.

·         It draws pictures on a paper based on commands rom computer.

·         Plotters differ from printers in the way they draw lines using a pen.

·         Plotters are widely used for printing maps, posters, etc.

 

5.      Write the difference between a monitor and a projector.

Monitor

a.  It displays output on a small screen.

b.   Only few people can see the output.

 

Projector

a.   It displays output on large screen.

b.   Big audience can see the output.

 

6.      Write the use of a CD. What are its types?

CD is a type of storage device with the capacity upto 700MB.

            There are 3 types of CDs available and they are:

                                                                                  i.    CD-ROM: Compact Disc Read Only Memory.

                                                                                ii.    CD – R: Compact Disc Recordable.

                                                                              iii.    CD-RW: Compact Disc Rewritable.

 

 

           

7.      What is a pen drive?

Pen Drive is a small portable device. It stores huge amounts of data than CDs and DVDs.

It can store upto 32 GB data. Using pen drive, you can easily store and transfer the data from one computer to another.

 

8.      Write the use of the following devices:

a.      Speakers: Speakers are used to listen to music or other sounds from the computer.

b.      Printer: A printer prints the data on the paper from the computer. It provides hardcopy output. A printed paper is called printout.

1.      Rishi went to a bank to withdraw money through cheque. The banker inserted his cheque in a device. He wants to know the name of the device. Suggest him the answer.

 

The name of the device where cheque was inserted is MICR (Magnetic Ink Character Reader).

 

2.      Rohan wants to display his presentation on a large screen. Which device should he use to do so?
